All learners will have been referred to the class and will have physical or mental health issues. The overriding purpose of the class therefore is to promote the well-being of the learner through art, in a safe, friendly, and creative environment. All teaching will be 1-1 with each learner working on and developing their own area of interest and creative practice. The course is for learners with no or little experience in art or who want to develop their existing skills in art by exploring a wider range of media, techniques, and subject matter than previously explored. Where required activities can be set for individual learners.

By the end of the course learners will be more able to communicate their ideas visually by improved skills in manipulating art material of their choice; to have a better understanding of colour, line, tone and texture; to be able to create images as intended; and to be more expressive in their art with or without traditional craft skills.
