The purpose of the course is to prepare you for working in the construction industry by giving you a basic overview of the industry itself. The course includes two qualifications:

L1 Certificate in Skills for Working in Construction

L1 Award in Health & Safety in a Construction Environment

At the end of the course you will sit the CSCS test and on successful completion you will gain a CSCS green card, which the college applies and pays for.

The course is designed to give you the information and ability to apply for Construction related roles.

Level 1 Extended Award in Skills for Working in Construction Units:

  • Principles of Construction
    Health & Safety in the Workplace
    Contracts, rights and Pay
    Working in Construction
    Environmental Sustainability

Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in a Construction Environment

Modules:

  • Risk Assessment
    Manual Handling
    Working safely at height
    Construction Environment H&S
    Safety around plant & equipment

Learners will also sit an external end exam
