Great Summer Jobs Ideas in 2022 Employment

With the summer holidays starting soon, a lot of students and young people will be looking towards getting a part or full-time job for the summer. In order to help you, we’ve put together this quick list of summer jobs that you might want to try in 2022.

Fruit Picking

Fruit picking. It’s hard work and truth be told there’s not a lot of money in it. But it is incredibly vital work, and if you’ve never had a job before Fruit Picking can give you  a lot of experience in managing your time, quality control, and team working skills. All of these are very important and marketable skills that you can take to your next job.

Marketing

Now, you’re probably not going to be a marketing expert as soon as you start. In fact, it’s fair to say that you’ll be spending most of your time handing out leaflets. But at the very least it’s an opportunity to spend some time outside, gaining some very valuable experience in an industry that can be positively fascinating, and making money while you do so, too.

So why not spend some time in the marketing industry this summer?

Retail

Of all the examples on this list, retail work is probably the most stereotypical. But even though it’s almost stereotypical, working retail can give you  a lot of good experience, for both everyday life and at future jobs.

Working retail teaches you patience and empathy in  a way that few other career choices do, and you’ll gain some truly valuable team working and communication skills working at a shop.

What’s more, depending on availability, you may be able to find a job opening in a field that you truly love. For example, let’s say you’re a big fan of video games: you might be able to get a position at a local Game.

Library Assistant

Our final recommendation is a Library Assistant. Unlike the other entries on this list, we have to leave a caveat here that it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to find a paid  Library Assistant position. However, it’s quite likely that your local library will appreciate it if you volunteer your time. It doesn’t provide you with any income, but it can provide you with fantastic experience – particularly if you’re at university and considering a MA Library Science degree.
